About Me

Welcome to the official website of Dara McCarthy.
I am 28 year old web designer, musician and tour guide from Dublin, Ireland.
I set up this website in 2010 to showcase:

the music I have written,

the websites I have created

and my tour guiding activities.

Tour Guide

Many of you visiting this site will probably know me from having taken one of my historical tours of either the Vatican & Sistine Chapel in Rome,
where I spend most of my time, or my home town of Dublin, Ireland where I spend the winter months.
I have a degree in History and Political Science from UCD (Ireland's Largest University) and apart from guiding,
I am employed by publishing companies in Ireland to proof-read or check proposed historical works for accuracy before they go to print.
I am an authorised tour guide for the Vatican and for Dublin City and Enviorns.

Music

I have always been interested in music and took the first grade of classical piano over a decade ago.
I became interested in electronic music in my teens and started writing it shortly after.
I have written ten albums of music to date, eight of which are available for free on this site.
You can listen to the tracks by clicking on them in their relevant albums.

Web Design

I started designing websites in 2006, teaching myself with various WYSIWYG editors such as Sitebuilder and Kompozer
before later moving on to actually writing the computer code in html, javascript, php and other languages.
Today, I am a qualified and certified Web Programmer as well as a Microsoft Certified Engineer and Administrator.
I have created several websites for companies, organisations and individuals.

Blog

Occassionally, in an attempt to prove that I do something with my life, I post articles to my blog.
You can give it a read, it usually relates to my summer life in Rome and winter life in Dublin.
