Overviews
Join my exclusive private Dublin pub crawl for small groups looking to immerse themselves in the culture, history, and stories of Ireland’s capital while enjoying drinks at some of the best pubs in Dublin.
This is a relaxed and personalized experience tailored to your interests.
I select authentic, local pubs near your accommodation, offering you the chance to enjoy dinner in one of the bars and experience live Irish music at the end of the tour.
Dublin is home to many famous pubs, some with deep literary and political connections.
My pub crawl takes you to some of the most iconic and unique bars in the city, and can include:
- The smallest pub in Dublin
- The oldest pub in Dublin
- The most beautiful bar
- The Pub which James Joyce immortalised in his literature and the one U2 were kicked out of and now own
This tour is a perfect blend of novelty, history, literature, music, and Irish humour.
Dublin boasts over 800 pubs, serving a population of 1.6 million—about one pub for every 2,000 people!
Alcohol has long been intertwined with Dublin’s history. In fact, the first Irish coin minted in 997 AD, King Sitric’s Penny, was worth exactly one glass of wine!
Additionally, Dublin is home to the historically largest brewery in the world by area, and even Ireland’s national symbol had to be altered due to beer! Irish pubs are about much more than drinking.
They are social hubs where locals gather to eat, chat, tell stories, listen to music, and even plan revolutions!
On this tour, you’ll learn about Dublin’s rich pub culture, including:
- The literary greats like James Joyce and Brendan Behan
- Musical connections in Temple Bar
- The best local spots where Dubliners actually drink
- Avoiding tourist traps and discovering authentic Irish hospitality
If you prefer, we can visit a bar with live Irish music, and you can enjoy dinner along the way.
Drinking in every bar is optional—Ireland offers non-alcoholic drinks, gluten-free beers, and half-pint servings.
You must be at least 18 years old to drink alcohol in Ireland.
Younger participants are welcome, as non-alcoholic beverages and entertainment options (music, games) are available.
The walking pace is relaxed, and we will sit inside the bars whenever possible.
At the end of the tour, I’ll ensure you know how to return to your hotel and provide recommendations for further dining, drinks, or sightseeing in Dublin.

What People are Saying
Amazing adventure! M
Fabulous way to spend a hot sunny day! It was a fantastic adventure and escape from city madness. Our journey in the canoe took us downstream from Borris to Graiguenamanagh and it took us just over three hours including short stops. The scenery was truly spectacular. Paddling beneath the massive canopies.

Yes indeed, I include skip the line ticket costs in my pricing so you can relax on the tour itself and not worry about entrance fees.
-
Very relaxed. If you’ve had a recent injury or just like to take it slow so you can take photos and soak up views etc my tours are for you. Please let me know if you're using a wheelchair in advance.
-
Indeed. I always offer breaks for coffee, water and bathrooms when they are in the vicinity. If you twist my arm I can be convinced to drink a beer with you…
-
Yes everywhere except at the Book of Kells itself (if we are seeing that). I always advise of photo policy so you can just relax on the tour but Ireland is very informal.
-
The name Dara is a common name for men and men only in Ireland. Beside myself thousands of men have it including politicians, comedians and TV Presenters. Most Irish people have Irish or Gaelic names. If you’re interested in my name you can read my blog post about it here.
-
Indeed, I am Dublin born and bred. The leprechaun accent you’ve heard on your television is the rural Irish accent so no one from Dublin or Northern Ireland sounds like that. If you’re interested in the different Irish accents you can read my blog post about it here.
