dublin pub crawl

My Dublin pub crawl is for small private groups who would like to get better acquainted with the culture, history and stories of the Irish capital whilst having a drink in some of the best pubs in Dublin. This is a private pub crawl for those who enjoy a drink at a relaxed pace.

I chose authentic local pubs near your hotel and you can have dinner in one of the bars and stop in a music pub at the end if you like.

famous pubs in Dublin

dublin pub crawl There are many famous pubs in Dublin, some have interesting literary or political connections.

My pub crawl enters some of the best bars in Dublin; the smallest, the oldest, one of the newest, one where James Joyce drank and one where U2 drank.

It is a mixture of novelty, history, literature, music and humour.

famous pubs in dublin There are 800 pubs in Dublin and with a population of 1.6 million people, that means there is 1 pub for every 2000 people.

Alcohol has always been part of the fabric of the city; the first coin minted in Ireland, King Sitric’s Penny back in 997 AD, was worth one glass of wine!

So when money was minted in Dublin it was used an an accounting system for alcohol.

The historically largest brewery in the world by area is in Dublin and the country’s national symbol had to be changed because of beer!

best bars in dublin

old dublin pub Pubs in Ireland aren’t just about alcohol; they are places where people relax, have lunch and dinner, chat, tell stories, meet their partners or friends, hear gossip, steal ideas and plan rebellions.

As well as filling you in on the history of alcohol and Dublin, I cover literary figures such as James Joyce and Brendan Behan, musical connections to the bars in Temple Bar whilst bringing you in to places the locals drink and avoiding the tourist traps.

We can go to a bar with live Irish music and you can eat dinner along the way if you would like.

You don’t have top drink in every bar if you don’t want to; Ireland serves glasses or half-pints and has many non-alcoholic beverages (and gluten free beers) not sold in other countries.

I have worked in Trinity College, the Vatican, Rome City, Glasnevin Cemetery and the General Post Office in Dublin and I work for Rick Steves in Dublin and throughout Ireland.
